Fatal Car Crash at Barnett Segal Lane and Iris Canyon Road, Monterey
Monterey, Calif. (Aug. 17, 2026) — A fatal crash involving a car that crashed into a tree happened Sunday afternoon at a sharp curve in the roadway where Barnett Segal Lane meets Iris Canyon Road in Monterey.
One person is dead and three others were injured in the solo-vehicle collision reported at 5:14 p.m. on August 16th, according to the Monterey Police Department. Four people were traveling in the silver 2009 BMW coupe convertible. The group was reportedly traveling from Carmel to Monterey, and witnesses told authorities the driver showed recklessness.
Paramedics responded and transported all four occupants from the BMW to Natividad Medical Center for treatment, but sadly one passenger later died from their injuries.
DUI Suspected in Deadly Monterey Crash
The driver, Sebastian Feliciano, 20, of Dublin, survived the crash. Police observed signs of impairment, and a preliminary alcohol screening determined his blood-alcohol content was above the limit of 0.8 at 13 percent. The young man, who is under the legal age for drinking, was hospitalized due to injuries from the crash. However, police say they are pursuing gross vehicular manslaughter and DUI charges due to the death of one passenger.
Meanwhile, two other passengers survived with non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital.
