1 Killed, Several Hurt After Collision at Betteravia and Philbric Road
Santa Maria, CA (May 3, 2022) – A 44-year-old man died following a traffic accident that occurred in the area of Betteravia and Philbric Road Monday.
The Noozhawk News reported 32-year-old Domingo Perez Lopez was behind the wheel of a Honda Civic traveling south on Philbric. When the Honda approached the intersection at East Betteravia, the driver apparently failed to yield to a stop sign.
According to the article published online, the Honda started making a left turn onto Betteravia when a truck drove through the crossing. The big rig carrying a trailer broadsided the Honda. Due to the force from the impact, the Honda sustained major damage.
Emergency crews arrived at the location shortly after 6:30 a.m. First responders found a male party unconscious in the left rear passenger side of the Honda. Paramedics performed life-saving measures to the victim but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. Authorities only identified the deceased as a 44-year-old Santa Maria resident.
3 Hospitalized After Car vs. Truck Accident in Santa Maria
Authorities added Lopez; a second passenger in the Honda–Servillano Perez Lopez; and the truck driver all sustained injuries as a result of the wreck. Medical personnel transported the three patients to the hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
Detectives stayed at the scene the whole morning. They continue to investigate several unclear factors surrounding the fatal crash at Betteravia and Philbric Road in Santa Maria.
