Multi-Vehicle Fatal Crash on River Road near Fulton
FULTON, Calif. (June 26, 2019) — A woman has died after a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon involving a multiple vehicles on River Road between Fulton and the Woolsey area.
The crash was reported at 1:20 p.m. in the 3700 block of River Road in Sonoma County, according to the California Highway Patrol. The 72-year-old Santa Rosa man driving a silver Hyundai Santa Fe SUV was traveling eastbound on River Road when he veered into the path of two westbound vehicles. The Hyundai collided with a Ford that veered off to the right shoulder upon impact. The Hyundai also crashed into a Honda whose female driver died at the scene.
The driver and a passenger who were in the Hyundai were hospitalized at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with minor to moderate injuries. The driver in the Ford was checked for injuries, but did not require transport to a hospital.
The CHP report stated that the roadway was blocked with vehicles and three of them taken away by tow trucks for evidence.
The crash remains under investigation to determine liability.
