Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Interstate 580 Freeway in Castro Valley
CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. (June 29, 2022) — A fatal Castro Valley motorcycle accident involving an SUV or truck happened Wednesday morning on the eastbound Interstate 580 Freeway.
The collision occurred about 7:12 a.m. on June 29th, near the Grove Way off ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported the grey truck or SUV struck the rider on a sports bike due to unknown circumstances. The motorcycle was reportedly “totaled,” according to the CHP dispatcher.
Paramedics responded to the scene to help the injured person who went down in the No. 2 lane. Sadly, the rider suffered major injuries and died following the crash. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene.
The report does not provide the victim’s gender, age or identity.
Police issued a SigAlert for the Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 lanes of the freeway due to the crash.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the Castro Valley motorcycle accident.
