Semi-Truck Hits Pedestrian in Fatal Crash on Highway 99

CHICO, Calif. (Feb. 26, 2024) — A fatal Chico pedestrian accident happened late Sunday night on Highway 99 in Butte County.

The deadly crash occurred at around 11:17 p.m. on Feb. 25th, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

A driver in a big rig truck reportedly struck the victim on the southbound Highway 99 and Esplanade in Chico, according to the CHP.

Paramedics with the Butte County Fire Department responded and located the victim in the southbound traffic lane with major injuries. They transported the person to Enloe Medical Center, but the person later died from their injuries.

Traffic investigators are working to determine fault for the Chico pedestrian accident on Highway 99.
