Man Killed, Woman Injured in Head-on Crash
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (May 25, 2023) — A fatal head-on Chula Vista crash happened early Wednesday morning near the transit depot at E Street near Woodlawn Avenue.
The collision took place at about 6 a.m. on May 24th, according to the Times of San Diego.
A westbound Honda reportedly veered across into an eastbound left-turn lane and collided with another driver in a Nissan sedan, the Chula Vista Police Department said. The Nissan was waiting to turn left into a McDonalds restaurant driveway.
The driver of the Honda was found unconscious in his wrecked vehicle and paramedics attempted to revive him, but were unable to.

The man driving the Honda was around 50 years old and was pronounced dead at the scene. The San Diego Medical Examiner will release his name after notifying his next of kin.
Meanwhile, a woman in her 60s who was driving the Nissan suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment, the report said. Police did not release her name.
Authorities closed down roadway for several hours between Interstate 5 and Woodlawn Avenue to conduct an investigation into the fatal Chula Vista crash. It’s unknown if speed, alcohol or a medical episode were factors that contributed to the collision at this time.
