
Clovis Fire Dept. Vehicle Hits Pedestrian
CLOVIS, Calif. (July 4, 2023) – A fatal pedestrian accident on Clovis Avenue involving a fire department vehicle happened on the Fourth of July in Clovis.
JULY 6TH UPDATE: Melchor Mendoza, 62, of Clovis, was identified as the man who died in the Clovis pedestrian accident.
Police reported the Clovis Fire Department vehicle was responding to an emergency with its lights and siren on around 9 p.m. on July 4th.
Meanwhile, the pedestrian identified as Melchor Mendoza walked into the path of the oncoming fire vehicle headed southbound on Clovis Avenue, Your Central Valley reported. He was walking with a woman and they had just left a nearby mini-mart, according to ABC 30 News.
The vehicle struck the pedestrian and the person suffered major injuries, but died almost immediately after being hit.
The Clovis Police Department brought in the California Highway Patrol to investigate the pedestrian accident on Clovis Avenue.
Meanwhile, authorities closed down the intersection between Barstow Avenue and Jefferson Avenue.
