Fatal Clovis Crash Highway 168, West Shepherd Avenue in Fresno County
1 Dead, 1 Injured in Head-on Car Accident
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2023) — One driver is dead and another injured after a head-on crash in Clovis on Highway 168, just east of West Shepherd Avenue in Fresno County.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the head-on collision in the eastbound lanes of State Route 168 that was reported last night around 10:10 p.m. on Oct. 4th, according to ABC 30 News.
Billy Copple, 32, of Prather, was traveling eastbound in his Tesla Y when he reportedly lost control and collided head-on with a westbound Chevrolet pickup truck.
The Tesla caught on fire and became engulfed in flames and its driver Billy Copple died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the 59-year-old Prather man driving the pickup truck suffered major, non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Investigators are working on the case and at this time it’s unknown if alcohol and or drugs were a factor in the Clovis crash on Highway 168.
