Bicyclist Struck by SUV on State Route Highway 242
CONCORD, Calif. (Nov. 25, 2024) — A person riding a bicycle on Highway 242 was struck and killed Sunday night in a Concord car accident, just north of the Oliveira Road overpass.
The traffic collision occurred around 8:50 p.m. on Nov. 24th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
It happened in the southbound lanes of state Route 242, the CHP said.
A driver in a white GMC Yukon SUV struck the bicyclist who was riding in the far right lane.
Paramedics responded to the scene, but the cyclist suffered fatal injuries before they could be transported to a hospital.
The victim’s identity was not released, pending notification of relatives.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Yukon stopped and was questioned about what happened by the CHP investigators. Alcohol and or drugs are not a factor in the collision.
