Woman Struck, Killed on State Route 242
CONCORD, Calif. (June 2, 2023) — A fatal pedestrian accident on the southbound Highway 242 happened Thursday night, just south of Clayton Road in Concord.
A driver struck and killed the unidentified woman around 11:30 p.m. on June 1st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The coroner has not released her name, pending notification of relatives.
Authorities reported the driver of a gray Lexus IS-250 was heading southbound on Highway 242 when they struck the woman, according to East Bay Times. She suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, CHP investigators are working on the case to learn why the woman was on the roadway at the time of the crash.
There were no injuries to the driver from the Lexus, but a passenger suffered minor injuries, police said.
