CORONA, California (January 18, 2015) — One person was killed early Sunday morning in a fiery car crash on the eastbound State Route 91 Riverside Freeway at Green River Road, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
The two-vehicle crash was reported to the CHP about 4:11 a.m.
The drivers of a black Jeep and a second vehicle were involved and one of the cars was
fully engulfed in flames on the freeway’s right shoulder.
CHP officers contacted the Coroner’s Office to come to the scene after one of the people involved died about 4:48 a.m.
Police shut down the freeway to all eastbound traffic briefly so they could conduct an investigation into liability for this person’s death. The lanes were cleared and reopened about 7:20 a.m.
“My condolences go out to the victim’s family and friends as they cope with his or her’s sudden loss,” said Attorney James Johnson.
