Deadly Car Accident on State Route 91 in Riverside County

CORONA, Calif. (Oct. 2, 2023) — A fatal crash involving a wrong-way driver happened early Monday morning on the Riverside 91 Freeway in Corona.

The two-vehicle collision happened just after midnight on Oct. 2nd on the 91 Freeway in Corona, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported a driver was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes before they crashed into the second driver near Lincoln Avenue.

Both vehicles became fully became engulfed in flames upon impact.

Authorities stated at least one person died, but it’s unknown if it was the wrong-way driver or the other motorist. Also, the names of the motorists were not released at this time.

Investigators closed down a portion of the 91 Freeway to investigate the Corona crash on the 91 Freeway.
