COSTA MESA, Calif. (May 25, 2023) — A fatal two-vehicle crash happened Thursday on the Interstate 405 Freeway near Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa.
The deadly crash occurred on the southbound I-405 around 12:56 a.m. on May 25th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Police and Costa Mesa Fire Department paramedics responded to the freeway crash and located at least one unresponsive victim trapped inside one of the vehicles, police said.
Sadly, the unidentified person was pronounced dead at the scene. It’s unknown if there were others hurt in the crash.
Meanwhile, authorities closed down two southbound traffic lanes on the freeway.
The case remains under investigation to determine fault for the fatal 405 Freeway crash.
