Truck Driver Dies in Costa Mesa Crash
COSTA MESA, Calif. (Sept. 23, 2024) – A truck driver died Monday when his truck overturned at Fairview Road and Sunflower Avenue in Costa Mesa.
The sewage vacuum tanker truck collided with an SUV at about 8:40 a.m., according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.
The truck fell onto its side and the driver was trapped in the vehicle and died at the scene, police said.
Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Police at the scene told reporters the westbound truck was traveling on Sunflower when it was broadsided by the northbound SUV traveling on Fairview. Authorities believe the truck driver drove through the red light and that was the cause of the crash.
