Fatal Rollover Crash 134 Freeway at I-5 in Glendale

GLENDALE, Calif. (June 26, 2026) — One person was killed Friday morning after a crash involving an overturned GMC on the westbound connector from the 134 Freeway to the northbound 5 Freeway, prompting a lengthy closure and significant traffic delays.
The collision was reported on June 26th at approximately 6:04 a.m. on the westbound State Route 134 connector to Interstate 5. Initial reports to the California Highway Patrol indicated a GMC overturned onto the right shoulder and grassy area.
Within minutes, responding CHP officers determined the crash involved a GMC that had overturned with a person trapped inside. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel were requested to respond for a rescue operation after officers reported the victim remained inside the wreckage.
The incident was later upgraded from an injury collision to a fatal traffic collision.
Emergency crews remained at the scene for several hours as investigators documented the crash and worked to remove the overturned vehicle. A heavy-duty tow truck was requested to recover the wreckage.
During the investigation, the No. 2 and No. 3 lanes of westbound State Route 134 beneath the Interstate 5 interchange were closed for approximately two hours, while the No. 1 lane remained open to traffic. Motorists experienced significant delays through the area during the morning commute.
Tow operators coordinated access to the crash scene from multiple freeway on-ramps before the damaged vehicles were removed.
The identity of the person who died has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash camera footage is encouraged to contact CHP investigators.
