Fatal Collision on I-215 Near Martin Luther King Blvd Involves Multiple Vehicles
RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Feb. 27, 2026) — — A devastating multi-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality early Friday morning on Interstate 215 Freeway, just south of Martin Luther King Boulevard in Riverside. The incident occurred on Feb. 27th shortly after 5:00 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
UPDATE: Phillip Macias, 66, of Pomona, has been identified as the motorist killed in the 215 Freeway crash, according to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner.
The tragic accident involved a gray Ford Ranger, which was reportedly pinned under a white semi-truck with a trailer. This incident was part of a larger chain-reaction crash that saw involvement from several other vehicles, including a white Ford Fusion, a white Nissan Rogue, a gray Toyota Tacoma, and a blue Volkswagen Passat.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the chaotic scene, where they found multiple vehicles obstructing the lanes. The collision prompted authorities to issue a SigAlert, resulting in the closure of the freeway’s 3-4 lanes for several hours to facilitate the emergency response and investigation.
Tragically, a 66-year-old Pomona man lost his life in this accident.
