Fatal Crash 29 Palms Highway 62 Near Joshua Tree National Park

Deadly Crash on State Route 62 in San Bernardino County

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (Jan. 11, 2024) — At least one person died in a crash on Twentynine Palms Highway 62 at Rotary Way near Joshua Tree National Park.

The two-vehicle collision occurred near 67010 – 67099 on State Route 62 at around 7:54 p.m. on Jan. 10th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.

Someone called 911 to report the crash and told dispatchers the multiple vehicles including semi-trucks involved and debris scattered across traffic lanes.

However, the CHP said it was the drivers of a gray Dodge Challenger and a gray Chevrolet that were involved.

Paramedics responded and pronounced one person deceased at the scene. Two others were transported to a hospital with undisclosed injuries, the report said.

Tow trucks removed both vehicles for evidence. Also, a dog from one of the vehicles was taken by animal control.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the fatal crash on 29 Palms Highway.
