
Man Killed in Crash on 405 Freeway in Westwood
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 22, 2023) – A fatal, multiple-vehicle crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway, near Sunset Boulevard happened early Monday in the Westwood area of Los Angeles.
At least four vehicles were involved including a black Ford Explorer SUV, a black Cadillac Escalade, and a semi-truck in the 3:36 a.m. crash in the southbound lanes of the San Diego Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Witnesses told CHP dispatchers there was a body in the middle lanes of the freeway, the report said.
Responding paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene, the report said. Meanwhile, police issued a SigAlert around 4 a.m. as they closed down the southbound lanes.
Also, authorities also closed down the Sunset Boulevard on-ramp to the southbound 405 Freeway. Motorists were diverted off the freeway at Skriball Center Drive, the CHP said.
