Fatal Crash 60 Freeway, Soto Street in Boyle Heights
LOS ANGELES, Calif., (October 1, 2026) — A fatal crash happened early Thursday morning on the westbound 60 Freeway, just east of the Soto Street onramp in Boyle Heights.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:48 AM on Oct. 1st, 2026. Initial reports indicate a black Mini SUV was stopped in the highway’s central divider. Emergency services, including the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD), were promptly dispatched to the scene.
At least two lanes were blocked by emergency responders as they worked to manage the scene. A hard closure was implemented by Caltrans to assist with the investigation and safety measures. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed one person had died.
Meanwhile, the identity of the person who died was not released pending notification of next of kin.
Finally, authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident and have asked anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to come forward.
