Fatal Crash at Avenue 18 1/2 and Road 19 in Madera County

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (June 29, 2026) — A 25-year-old Madera man died Wednesday night in a multi-vehicle crash at Avenue 18 1/2 and Road 19 in Madera County
The traffic accident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, according to the California Highway Patrol Madera.
Madera police officers responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection.
Investigators determined the Madera man was driving a green 2000 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck northbound on Road 19. Meanwhile, a 40-year-old Chowchilla driver was in a silver 2022 Hyundai Tucson had the right-of-way and was heading westbound on Avenue 18 ½.
The two vehicles arrived at the intersection at the same time, however, the Toyota allegedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign.
The Toyota pickup truck was hit on its passenger side by the oncoming Hyundai, and both vehicles overturned into a nearby orchard.
Unfortunately, the young man driving the Toyota did not have his seatbelt on and was ejected from the truck. He suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver in the Hyundai suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital.
