Man, 25, Killed in Modesto Crash at Kiernan Ave and Tully Road
MODESTO, Calif. (October 7, 2021) – A fatal crash happened early Thursday at Kiernan Avenue and Tully Road in Modesto.
The deadly collision happened about 4 a.m. on Oct. 7th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Andrew Avalos, 25, of Modesto, died in the early morning crash while driving a classic 1973 Datsun coup. The car was traveling westbound on Kiernan Avenue approaching a red traffic light. The driver reportedly failed to slow down and wound up rear-ending another motorist in a stopped Honda sedan, police said.
Soon afterwards, a second car crashed into the back of the now disabled Datsun.
Unfortunately the driver in the Datsun was not wearing a seatbelt. The young man suffered major injuries in the collision. Paramedics transported him by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center, but sadly he died of his injuries at the hospital.
The man will be identified after his relatives are notified of the fatal crash on Kiernan Avenue
Meanwhile, the other drivers did not report any injuries.
