Deadly 2-Car Crash at Lincoln and Fowler Avenues
FOWLER, Calif. (April 15, 2022) — A fatal crash happened Friday morning at South Fowler Avenue and East Lincoln Avenue, just north of the city of Fowler, Fresno County.
The deadly crash occurred about 6:41 a.m. on April 15th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials report the drivers of a silver Chevy Astro Van and a white 2014 GMC Terrain compact SUV collided when the van allegedly failed to stop at the Fowler intersection.
Farmworker Dead, 8 Injured in Crash Near Fowler
The GMC crashed into the Astro Van and it overturned. One of eight farm workers inside the van was thrown from the vehicle. Police say the victim, identified as Kevin Serrano, 18, of Mendota, was not wearing a seat belt. Sadly, the teenager died at the crash scene. Additionally seven others in the van and the driver of the GMC suffered minor to moderate injuries in the crash. Paramedics transported many of them to a hospital.
The vehicles blocked South Fowler Avenue so authorities closed down the roadway at East Lincoln Avenue. A tow truck removed both the GMC and the Chevrolet van from the crash scene. Both had significant damage from the crash.
Investigators are working to determine fault for the collision.
Witnesses are urged to contact the CHP or Fresno County Sheriff’s Department.
