Woman, 67, Killed in Tustin Car Accident
TUSTIN, Calif. (June 6, 2023) — A fatal crash at Tustin Ranch Road and Barranca Parkway happened Sunday afternoon when a driver allegedly ran a red light.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 5:15 p.m. on June 6th, according to the Orange County Register.
A 25-year-old Santa Ana man reportedly drove through a red traffic light while traveling at speeds estimated to be 80 mph. The vehicle was westbound on Barranca Parkway when it crashed into another vehicle and killed a 67-year-old Irvine woman. The woman had been driving southbound on Tustin Ranch Road and was hit by the speeding motorist as she entered the intersection with Barranca Parkway, police said.
Paramedics responded and rushed both the young man and the woman to a hospital where they were both treated for major injuries. However, the Irvine woman later died at the hospital.
Investigators believe that alcohol and speed were factors in the Barranca Parkway crash in Tustin, but it’s unknown what charges will be filed against the Santa Ana man.
