1 Dead. 2 Critical in Crash on Buckman Springs Road
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (April 12, 2023) — A 62-year-old man died in a head-on crash Friday on Buckman Springs Road in the rural East County area.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 2:25 p.m. on Friday, April 7th on Buckman Springs Road, north of Corral Canyon Road, the California Highway Patrol said.
Head-on Car Accident in East County
A 35-year-old man driving a white 2015 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was traveling northbound on Buckman Springs Road, Fox 5 San Diego reported. The motorist reportedly veered over into the southbound lane and crashed head-on into a maroon 1997 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, the news report said.
The second truck was driven by a 62-year-old man with a 59-year-old woman as its front seat passenger. Paramedics responded and pronounced the man deceased on scene. However, the female passenger and the 35-year-old man in the 2015 Toyota pickup, both suffered major injuries. They were transported by ambulances to Sharp Memorial Hospital, police said.
Investigators are working to determine if DUI was a factor in the crash on Buckman Springs Road.
