Passenger Killed, Driver Injured and Arrested for DUI
BYRON, Calif. (July 17, 2023) — A fatal crash on Byron Highway, just south of Clifton Court happened Saturday in Byron.
Anna Avaloz, 38, of Tracy, died in the solo-vehicle collision with her husband who was the driver of the vehicle. Andre Avaloz, 36, was arrested for alleged DUI driving.
The traffic accident occurred about 11:05 p.m. on the southbound side of the highway, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
Two people were traveling in the Chevrolet Suburban when it went off the roadway and crashed in a dirt embankment. The passenger identified as Anna Avaloz suffered major injuries and died at the scene, the report said.
Meanwhile, Andre Avaloz suffered major injuries. Paramedics transported him to a hospital where he was later placed under arrest on DUI charges, according to East Bay Times.
