Deadly Crash on I-5 Freeway in Cantua Creek
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Nov. 17, 2021) — A fatal crash in Cantua Creek happened Wednesday on the Interstate 5 Freeway at the Derrick Avenue off ramp, CHP officials report.
The deadly crash happened about 10:10 a.m. on Nov. 17th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported a white Chevrolet or Ford pickup truck was traveling northbound on the I-5 Freeway. For unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed over into southbound traffic lanes and crashed into a tree on the right shoulder of the southbound side. Subsequently, the pickup truck overturned during the crash.

Apparently, there was also a pedestrian accident after or during the collision.
CHP dispatch operators notified the Bakersfield Police Department and Kern County Coroner to respond.
It’s unknown how many people died in the collision or any further details.
Investigators seek to determine the cause of the crash and liability.
