Man, 21, Killed in Head-on crash at Intersection
STANISLAUS COUNTY, Calif. (July 7, 2022) — A man is dead and a woman critically injured Wednesday in a head-on crash at Crows Landing Road and Harding Road in Stanislaus County.
The two-vehicle collision occurred about 4:25 p.m. on July 6th, just west of Turlock and northeast of Crows Landing, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 21-year-old Ceres man driving a 2003 Honda and the 34-year-old Newman woman in a 2019 Honda collided head-on at the intersection. Both vehicles suffered major front-end damage in the collision. Emergency responders located the 2019 Honda in the middle of the roadway and the older Honda wound up on the eastern side of the road. Both vehicles were facing a northeasterly direction following the crash.
Timo Martinelli, 21, of Ceres, died at the scene, but Valerie Torres, 34, of Newman, survived with major injuries. Paramedics transported her to Doctors Medical Center. The young man was apparently not wearing a seatbelt.
Finally, investigators are reviewing evidence from the crash. They have not determined whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash on Crows Landing Road.
