Deadly Car Accident at Curnow Road, and former Cottonwood Road
BAKERSFIELD, CALIF. (Feb. 5, 2024) — A 25-year-old woman died and three female juveniles were critically injured in a solo-vehicle crash on Curnow Road and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Bakersfield.
The collision occurred at around 9:02 p.m. on Feb. 3rd, according to the California Highway Patrol and Bakersfield Now.
The female driver and three passengers were traveling eastbound on Curnow Road. The driver allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign as she approached a T-intersection at MLK Jr. Boulevard, formerly Cottonwood Road.
The vehicle went through the intersection and off the roadway into a dirt berm from the Central Branch Kern Island Canal, the report said.
All four females in the vehicle were apparently not wearing their seatbelts, police said. The woman driving the vehicle suffered major injuries and died at the scene.
Meanwhile, all three female juveniles also suffered major injuries and were transported to a hospital.
Investigators are working on the case to determine whether or not alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this crash.
