Teenager Killed, One Injured in Accident
MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (June 7, 2023) — A fatal crash on Darrah Road happened Tuesday night near Deer Springs Road in Mariposa County.
The 18-year-old driver was killed and a 15-year-old passenger critically injured in the collision, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The teenage driver allegedly drifted onto the shoulder, pulled back into traffic lanes and then went off the road again before hitting a tree, ABC 30 News reports.
The young man died at the scene, but his younger passenger survived with major injuries. Paramedics responded and requested an air ambulance to transport him to Community Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
The identities of the two teenagers were not released.
Meanwhile, Mariposa County officials noted the 18-year-old driver was a student at a local high school.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
