Two-Vehicle Collision in San Marcos Area
SAN MARCOS, Calif. (August 24, 2023) — A 23-year-old man died Thursday following a two-vehicle collision on Deer Springs Road in San Marcos, North County.
The two-vehicle traffic accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. on August 24th, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to CHP, the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. on Deer Springs Road, west of Mesa Rock Road in unincorporated San Marcos.
The young man was driving a BMW 330ci eastbound on Deer Springs Road, according to Fox 5 News. At the same time, a 61-year-old man was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck westbound in traffic lanes.
Investigators say the BMW crossed the solid double yellow line and collided head-on with the Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.
The impact left the young man fatality injured and the Toyota driver suffered major injuries and was hospitalized. The names of the two victims were not released.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the crash on Deer Springs Road.
