Man, 25, Killed in Violent Crash at Hyde Park Intersection
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (April 17, 2024) — A 25-year-old man died Tuesday night in a crash at West Florence Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard in Hyde Park.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 11:15 p.m. on April 16th, according to the Los Angeles Police Department and KTLA 5 News.
Authorities reported a driver in a black BMW SUV was heading westbound on West Florence Avenue at high speed when they allegedly drove through a red light and crashed into the side of a gray sedan.
The sedan reportedly spun around and stopped roughly 70 feet from the point of impact, police said.
Police and paramedics responded and pronounced the man in the sedan dead on scene.
Meanwhile, the SUV driver stopped and cooperated with authorities, but police do not suspect alcohol and or drugs were factors.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation including whether or not the SUV driver was engaged in a speed race prior to the collision.
