1 Dead, 3 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Car Accident
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (August 23, 2023) — A fatal multi-vehicle crash happened at Goodfellow Avenue and Rio Vista Avenue on Tuesday afternoon in Fresno County.
A 58-year-old man died and three other drivers were injured in the collision reported at 3:30 p.m. on August 22nd, according to ABC 30 News.
The incident occurred after a 26-year-old woman driving a truck swerved to avoid hitting a Toyota Camry. She veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a BMW. The truck also collided with a Hyundai before the vehicles came to a stop.
The 58-year-old man driving the BMW suffered major injuries and was transported to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported the woman from the truck and the driver of the Hyundai to a hospital for treatment of minor to moderate injuries. The Toyota driver suffered injuries, but declined transport to a hospital.
Authorities are working on determining fault for the crash. Preliminary indications are the woman driving the truck could have been distracted prior to the collision.
Police could possibly charge the woman from the truck with vehicular manslaughter, but there are no arrests at this time.
