Multi-Vehicle Crash Ends in Fatality
SAN MARTIN, Calif. (August 31, 2023) — A fatal crash happened on Highland Avenue in front of the sheriff sub station near Monterey Road in San Martin.
The two-vehicle collision occurred around 1:12 p.m. on August 31st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported at least two vehicles were involved including a 2022 Ford F150 pickup truck. The pickup was traveling eastbound on Highland Avenue when reportedly failed to stop at a red traffic light. The pickup collided with a southbound 2023 KIA Forte.
Both drivers were treated at the scene, but the driver of the 48-year-old Kia died from his injuries. The 59-year-old driver of the pickup truck suffered major head trauma and was hospitalized at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center.
One of the vehicles landed in the parking lot in front of 80 Highland Avenue.
Paramedics responded to the scene and transported one person to Valley Medical Center and another to Regional Medical Center. Two passengers from the Ford were complaining of pain, but not taken to a hospital.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the fatal crash on Highland Avenue.
