Deadly Solo-Vehicle Collision on Highway 1 in Santa Barbara County

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. (Nov. 1, 2024) — Five people were injured and at least one died in a crash on Highway 1 and California Boulevard at Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County.

The deadly crash occurred outside of the main gate around 1:22 a.m. on Nov. 1st, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported it was a solo-vehicle collision, but there are no further details at this time.

Paramedics responded and located five people with injuries, but at least one of them died at the crash scene.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the crash on Highway 1 at the Vandenberg Space Force Base.
