Deadly Car Accident on Highway 101 in Chualar
CHUALAR, Calif. (April 22, 2022) — A fatal two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 happened Friday morning near Chualar Road, just south of Salinas.
The collision occurred on the southbound 101 about 5:30 a.m. on April 22nd, during a heavy downpour, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of a GMC Yukon and a car collided due to unknown circumstances. One of the vehicles struck a guardrail and flames were starting underneath the vehicle. The other vehicle was blocking the roadway. Meanwhile, smoke erupted from both of the vehicles following the crash.
At least one person died in the crash, but there are no further details.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the collision.
