One Killed, 4 Injured in Montecito Car Accident
MONTECITO, Calif. (August 14, 2023) — A fatal crash on Highway 101, near Olive Mill Road happened early Sunday morning in Montecito.

One person died and four others were injured in the collision around 3:10 a.m. on August 13th, according to the Montecito Fire Protection District.
The drivers of an SUV and a second vehicle were involved in the collision, Noozhawk reports. The SUV reportedly went down an embankment and one occupant was thrown out of the vehicle and died. A second person was trapped in the vehicle with major injuries.
Firefighters and police responded to the southbound side of the 101 freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Fire officials reported the occupants from the SUV were extricated from the wreckage.
Meanwhile, three other people in the second vehicle had minor injuries. Paramedics transported them by American Medical Response ambulances to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
The CHP officers is heading up an investigation into what happened.
