Deadly Motorcycle Crash on Highway 101 in Santa Barbara
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (August 31, 2022) — A fatal motorcycle versus car accident on Highway 101 at Salinas Street happened Wednesday morning in Santa Barbara.
The 2-vehicle crash occurred in the northbound lanes about 10 a.m. on August 31st, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 31-year-old Ojai man riding a 2022 Yamaha ZR7 sport bike reportedly collided with the back of a 2022 Honda CRV, according to the Ventura County Star.
CHP officials reported the crash in the No. 1 lane of the freeway. The Nos. 2 and 3 lanes remained open following the crash.
Meanwhile, the Santa Barbara police and fire departments responded to the scene.
Paramedics were there to help those hurt in the crash, but sadly the motorcyclist died at the scene.
Additionally, the driver of the Honda was stopped near the Salinas off ramp, police said. The 61-year-old Ojai woman did not report any injuries.
Meanwhile, investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the Santa Barbara crash.
