Fatal Crash Highway 12, North Clements Road in San Joaquin County

3 Killed, 3 Injured in Head-On Collision North of Stockton on SR-12

San Joaquin County, CA (March 17, 2025) — Three people are dead after a head-on crash Sunday afternoon on Highway 12, just east of North Clements Road just north of Stockton in San Joaquin County.

The two-vehicle collision occurred around 3:40 p.m. on March 16, 2025, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported the crash involved the drivers of a white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and a black Ford Fiesta sedan.

Angela Maldonado, 25, of Lockeford, was driving the Ford sedan eastbound on SR-12 when she lost control of her vehicle. The car spun out and was hit by the westbound pickup truck. Three of the five occupants in the Ford suffered fatal injuries including the driver. Two of her passengers, a 21-year-old Skyy Richardson, and 37-year-old Simon Onesavanh, both of Stockton, also died. The two others from the Ford, believed to be in their 20s, were hospitalized with major injuries. Finally, the driver from the pickup truck was treated for minor injuries.

Investigators working on the case determined none of the occupants from the Ford were wearing their seat belts. Furthermore, approximately 20 to 30 open containers of alcohol were found in the Ford following the crash, according to CHP Stockton Officer Josh Case.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash and whether or not alcohol was a factor.
