Deadly, Head-on Car Accident on State Route 152
LOS BANOS, Calif. (August 29, 2023) — A fatal, head-on crash happened on Highway 152 between Britto Road and Turner Island Road Tuesday morning between Los Banos and the Dos Palos Y.
The two-vehicle collision occurred in the westbound lanes of State Route 152 around 5:42 a.m. on August 29th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials the drivers in an SUV and a silver Honda Accord were involved. The Honda reportedly “crossed over from the eastbound side and hit the SUV,” the report said.
A 26-year-old Los Banos man from the SUV died at the scene immediately after the collision. Police called the Merced County Sheriff’s Office for the coroner to respond.
Also, the 38-year-old woman driving the Honda with a 12-year-old child inside were taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
Meanwhile, investigators were at the scene and both westbound lanes were blocked by the vehicles and emergency responders.
Tow trucks removed both of the vehicles from the roadway.
Finally, the fatal crash on Highway 152 remains under investigation.
