Head-on Crash on State Route 180 Near Yokuts Valley
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (Feb. 19, 2024 — A fatal head-on crash happened Sunday morning on Highway 180 and George Smith Road near Yokuts Valley in Fresno County.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 5:30 a.m. on Feb. 18th, according to the California Highway Patrol and ABC 30 News.
The drivers of a black pickup truck and a gray SUV collided in the westbound lanes of State Route 180, the California Highway Patrol said. One of the vehicles reportedly veered into the path of the other one and they crashed. Two people managed to exit the vehicles, but one person suffered major injuries and died on scene.
CHP traffic investigators are working on determining fault for the fatal crash on Highway 180, but do not suspect drugs and or alcohol were contributing factors.
