Deadly Crash Over Cliff on SR-243 in Riverside County, CA
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2024) — At least one person is dead after a vehicle went over the side of a cliff Friday morning on Highway 243 at Rock Glen Road in the Idyllwild-Pine Cove area of Riverside County.
The deadly crash was reported to 911 operators around 7:24 a.m. on Oct. 25th, according to the California Highway Patrol report. It happened near 21485 State Route 243 at Mile Marker 9.5 near Round Robbin.
The crash sparked a brush fire and firefighters responded and put it out, but discovered a crashed vehicle and at least one person deceased.
The Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner was dispatched to the scene and investigators are working to determine what led to the crash.
The CHP report stated the vehicle went 30 feet over the side of a cliff where it landed in a precarious location.
