Fatal Car Accident on Highway 29 in the Lakeport Area
LAKE COUNTY, Calif. (August 26, 2021) — A fatal crash on Highway 29 at Argonaut Road happened Thursday morning in Lake County.
The crash between a gray Jeep Cherokee and a gray sedan happened about 10:10 a.m. on August 26th, according to the California Highway Patrol. One of the vehicles caught on fire in its engine compartment, police said.
The California Department of Fire responded and found one person still in a vehicle. Paramedics transported one of the drivers to a hospital with major injuries. Later, the CHP updated the report to indicate one person died in the crash. The age and gender of the person who died is unknown at this time. Also, the coroner will release the victim’s name after relatives are notified.
The vehicles blocked both lanes of the roadway, but tow trucks eventually removed them.
Meanwhile, investigators seek to determine the cause of the fatal crash on Highway 29 as well as liability.
