Woman Killed, Eight Injured in Head-on Crash
MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (Dec. 16, 2024) — A fatal head-on crash happened Saturday on Highway 49 at Ben Hur Road in Mariposa County.
The deadly crash occurred just after 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14th on State Route 49, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch report.
A woman in her 30s was northbound in a black Honda sedan on Highway 49 when she reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a driver in a red Jeep Rubicon. One of the vehicles “rolled off the roadway” and down an embankment, the CHP report said.
The woman died following the crash, but eight others from both vehicles survived with injuries and were taken to the hospital.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine if drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
