Fiery Motorhome Accident on Highway 50
EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. — A fatal crash involving an RV and SUV happened Monday afternoon on the westbound Highway 50 between Bass Lake Road and Silva Valley Parkway in El Dorado County.
The fiery, two-vehicle crash occurred at around 5:37 p.m. on Oct. 9th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The motorhome reportedly lost a tire, hit a Ford Explorer SUV and both vehicles overturned in the Nos. 3 and 4 lanes. The RV landed on its roof and caught on fire. The SUV was on its side. CHP officials stated there was “debris all across traffic lanes.”
Deputies from the California Highway Patrol Placerville station responded to the crash scene which was at the Bass Lake Grade just west of Bass Lake Road.
At least one person died in the collision and the RV fire spread to nearby vegetation. Firefighters from the El Dorado Hills Fire Department responded to put out the grass fire by 6:15 p.m.
The case remains under investigation.
