School Bus, SUV Crash on at Highway 74 and Riverside Street

LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. (May 12, 2022) — A fatal crash involving a school bus on Highway 74 near Riverside Street left one person dead and others injured Thursday in the Lake Elsinore area.

Several people were injured in the collision, including at least one child with a leg injury, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The drivers of an SUV and a school bus collided due to unknown circumstances. The crash happened at about 6:30 a.m. on the east and west sides of State Route 74, just west of Riverside Street, according to Riverside County Fire.

One person had to be extricated from the wreckage. Also, three others suffered a range of injuries from serious to minor.

Caltrans temporarily closed down both sides of State Route 74 for the investigation.
