Crash Involving Logging Truck at Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway
OLD STATION, Calif. (Oct. 5, 2022) — A fatal crash involving a logging truck happened Wednesday at Highways 89 and 44 also known as Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway, just north of Old Station.
The two-vehicle crash occurred about 10:50 a.m. on Oct. 5th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported finding a loaded logging truck and a black sedan on fire at the intersection. There was also debris all over the roadway.
The dispatch reported Lassen at least one person was confirmed deceased at the scene by responding firefighters from Lassen National Park. They were attempting to gain access to the vehicle to see if there were others inside.
Meanwhile, investigators are working on the case to determine liability.
