Fatal Crash Interstate 10 Freeway, Santa Fe Avenue in Los Angeles

One Killed, One Injured in Wrong-way Driver Crash in Downtown LA

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (Oct. 19, 2023) — A fatal crash on the eastbound Interstate 10 Freeway happened Thursday morning near South Santa Fe Avenue in Los Angeles.

The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 4:48 a.m. on Oct. 19th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.

CHP officials reported a driver in a white car was traveling the wrong way prior to colliding with a white Dodge Charger or Challenger in the slow lane. Police issued a SigAlert due to the collision.

Paramedics with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded and pronounced at least one person dead at the scene. They also transported another person with moderate injuries to Los Angeles County Community Hospital.

There are no further details about the collision and the name of the person who died will be released after family members are notified.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene and held for evidence.

The case remains under investigation.
