Fatal Crash Interstate 15 Freeway, Mannix Wash Bridge Newberry Springs 2 Killed, 2 Injured in Crash on I-15 Freeway

NEWBERRY SPRINGS, Calif. (April 11, 2022)  —  A fatal Newberry Springs crash on the southbound Interstate 15 Freeway on Friday left two people dead and two injured at the Mannix Wash bridge.

The crash happened at about 11:11 am, on Friday, April 8, 2022, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials reported a dark-colored sedan crashed on the freeway at Mannix Wash bridge, about 5 miles before Alvord Mountain Road.

California Highway Patrol officers and San Bernardino County firefighters responded to the crash scene.

Apparently the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the center divider. It flipped over multiple time and went off the freeway before it landed underneath the freeway bridge.

All four occupants of the vehicle became trapped inside it. Some good Samaritans stopped and pulled the victims from the vehicle just before it caught on fire.

Two people died at the scene and two others were airlifted to a hospital to be treated for major injuries.

The California Highway Patrol Barstow station is heading up the traffic accident investigation.
