Teenager Killed in Crash on I-205 Freeway Near Tracy
SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. (June 6, 2024) — A 17-year-old Stockton boy died in a crash Wednesday night on the Interstate 205 Freeway, just west of El Rancho Road in San Joaquin County.
The traffic accident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. on June 5th, about 5 miles northeast of Tracy, according to CBS News and the California Highway Patrol.
The teenage boy was reportedly traveling at high speed in a 2013 Acura. Witnesses told authorities he tried to change lanes and that’s when he allegedly sideswiped a 2009 Toyota.
The 17-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt and during the crash he was ejected from his vehicle and unfortunately, died at the scene.
The two vehicles went off the roadway and overturned down an embankment.
However, the 62-year-old Plymouth man driving the Toyota survived the crash with minor injuries.
The driver from the Toyota also fled the scene, but authorities later located him and the vehicle.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the crash and whether or not alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
