Two Killed, One Injured in Head-on Crash in Mount Shasta
MOUNT SHASTA, Calif. (Oct. 13, 2023) — Two people were killed in a head-on crash involving a car and a motorhome on the southbound Interstate 5 Freeway in the Mount Shasta area.
It happened about 4:30 p.m. on Oct. 12th in Siskiyou County, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The Mt. Shasta CHP reported a Ford Escape SUV was heading northbound in the southbound lanes when it collided with an oncoming 34-foot motorhome. Both of the vehicles caught on fire after the collision.
The driver of the car reportedly died at the scene of the crash. Meanwhile, the driver of the RV also died, but the victim’s passenger survived with major injuries.
Paramedics responded and rushed the injured passenger to Mercy Medical Center where they were then airlifted to UC Davis. The passenger suffered major burns to their body in the collision.
